Understanding Potassium Silicate and its specialized industrial applications
Potassium Silicate is a member of the polysilicate family, supplied as a clear aqueous solution with excellent adhesive properties. It is readily soluble in water, decomposes in acidic solutions to form silica, and is insoluble in alcohols. Its strong hydrolysis gives it an alkaline reaction.
Unlike sodium-based silicates, potassium silicate offers enhanced solubility, higher thermal stability, and better film-forming characteristics. The bonding performance depends on the silica modulus, concentration, and operating temperature, making our three-grade portfolio suitable for diverse applications.
Three standard grades are available — Grade A (modulus 3.3–3.5), Grade B (modulus 3.8–4.0), and Grade C (modulus 4.7–4.9) — each tailored for specific industrial requirements.
