Understanding Lithium Silicate and its advanced concrete protection properties
Lithium Silicate (Li2O · nSiO2), also known as Lithium Water Glass, is a high-performance alkali metal silicate supplied as a colorless to slightly yellow transparent aqueous solution. It reacts with free calcium ions in cement, concrete, and other inorganic substrates to form a stable, dense calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) gel.
With low molecular weight and deep penetration capability, lithium silicate delivers rapid reaction rates and uniform film formation. It significantly enhances surface hardness, abrasion resistance, impermeability, and weather resistance while reducing dusting, chalking, and cracking on treated surfaces.
Unlike sodium or potassium-based alternatives, lithium silicate offers superior UV resistance, excellent water resistance, and outstanding chemical stability, making it the preferred choice for high-performance concrete densification and surface protection.
